The Real (Freeway) Ricky Ross Still Fighting Over Name

Former drug dealer "Freeway" Ricky Ross continues to wage legal battles with MMG's Rick Ross over the use of his name.

The ongoing case of "Freeway" Ricky Ross suing MMG’s Rick Ross over rights to the name continues, as a judge dismissed Warner Brothers (home of MMG) motion to dismiss the case.

Now "Freeway" Ricky Ross has 10 days to amend his suit which claims unfair business practice, false advertising, and unjust enrichment against Warner Brothers.   The case stems back to 2010, when Ricky Ross claimed Rozay was using his birth name, and personae to sell records. 

Back in 2011, "Freeway" Ricky Ross told HipHopDX,  “See, if I can show that there’s a likeness in what he’s saying and with my actual story, then that’s where the conflict comes in at. If a guy has worked all of his life at Burger King, and then he comes and says, Well, the guy is using my likeness. And the guy is rappin’ about selling drugs, then they would say, Oh, well you never sold drugs, you worked at Burger King. But in my situation, by me actually living that lifestyle everybody knows that I lived that lifestyle, knows that that was me. Now say for instance if he actually sold drugs – which he wouldn’t of named himself after somebody else, ‘cause drug dealers don’t name themselves after other drug dealers.”

Later in the aforementioned interview Ricky Ross says he will not be deterred if the case is unsuccessful – which to this point it has been – “"I was willing to go all the way to the Supreme Court when I fought it the first time. I’m not afraid of courts. I fought ‘em from a jail cell.”    

My Take On Things....

From where I'm standing I feel Like Freeway Is right, Why would a drug dealer name himself after another dealer? Hmmm Maybe because he never sold drugs before. I remember when 50 cent got Rick Rozay Ross tax returns from when he was a prison guard. 

Wale's sophomore album "Ambition" went Gold

Wale's sophomore effort has officially gone gold, moving over 500,000 units.

Wale's MMG debut "Ambition" has officially gone gold.

His label boss,Rick Ross, broke the news via Twitter this morning. Ambition has sold more than 500,000 copies since dropping on November 1st of 2011.
