10.) ASAP Rocky - LiveLoveASAP


This tape catapulted ASAP Rocky to covers of magazines as well as making clams casino a sought out producer in the music community. showcasing tracks such as "Wassup", "Paso" "Purple Swag" and "Brand new guy"  featuring schoolboy Q makes this mix tape memorable but a few of the features were kind of iffy.







9.) Tyga - Black Thoughts 


Young Moneys artist Tyga lands in the ninth slot been mainly because I only really liked a few of the tracks, but the tracks were good enough to make my top 10 list. "Tyga Tyga" is probably my favorite track off the tape.











8.) B.O.B - Who The Fuck Is B.O.B?


This mix tape had some bangers such as "I'll be in the sky" an "Lonely People" it also showcased something we haven't heard in quite a while, somebody talking about real issues Bobby Ray touched on with the track "Generation Lost"











7.) The Weekend - Thursday


Although this tape only showcases nine tracks it blew up fast showcasing his amazing voice and drawn out song lyrics. This is a tape that can easily be listened to from beginning to end.












6.) Meek Millz - Dreamchasers 2


Philadelphia native is no stranger to the hip-hop community. He's been doing his thing on the streets of Philly for years. It was only after Rick Ross signed him that he became relevant in other cities. After dream chasers 2 came out. It was a Internet sensation. Although Meek hasn't put together any radio hits. He stays true to his roots and has a loyal street following.





5.) Yelawolf - Trunk Muzik


Born and raised is in Alabama this good old country boy push the envelope with his mix tape Trunk Muzik. this tape could be known for blowing speakers making you have excessive sex, causes police chases and new Alabama stereotypes, as well as shotgun sales,











4.) Big K.R.I.T - Return of 4eva


Big Krits tape Return of forever below up on datpiff.com. The tape was almost as real as it gets for someone on the outside to see what it is like in the mind of a starving artist trying to make it with his music. From the jump the intro says it all. It starts with him getting ready to go onto a stage at a sold old show but then his alarm clock goes off because it was all a dream. I loved "Dreamin" an "American Rap Star"





3.) Drake - So Far Gone


What can I say about this mix tape that hasn't been said already? You know you're blowing up when you drop a mix tape an go on a country wide tour preforming songs off your mix tape to sold out shows. My favorite track had to be "Congratulations" just because of the line "I got your dream girl riding around in your dream car"








2.) Wiz Khalifa - Kush An Orange Juice


This tape was voted #1 mix tape of 2010 for good reason. When this dropped I think I listed to it on replay for about two weeks an smoked about one hundred joints an drank a few cartons of orange juice (I don't even drink orange juice) Wiz did his thing on this tape I don't have to emphasize or explain.






Now as for my number one mix tape of all time ( echo time) 




and the winner is...........












1.) J Cole - The Warm Up  


This tape claims the number one spot on my list, simply because of the all-around solidness of this tape
this was finished around the same time Jay-Z offered J Cole a deal and inspired him to make the last track on the tape simply called "Last Call".


I could go on and on about what tracks I like the most, but a buddy of mine showed me the track "Dreams" an I was hooked. 


Tracks that need to be on constant repeat
"Welcome", "The badness" "World Is Empty" "Can I Live" "Lights Please" an last but not lease "Losing My Balance"




I'm sure some people will disagree with some of my picks, But then again this is my blog. I didn't take a vote or a survey. This is just from personal preference. Feel free to leave me any comments, hate or love about this list. Don't worry I won't read them anyway. (Just kidding I will)

MGK & Yelawolf beef put back in the microwave?

It seems that since MGK has been shelved by Interscope he's taken it upon himself to send shots back at Yelawolf hoping to reignite the bitter beef by calling him a "old man" an claiming to "respect his elders and every grandpa out there doing it big" 

personally, I think MGK is trying just a little too hard to get his name back to being relevant again. In a interview on shade 45 Yelawolf made it abundantly clear "Machine Gun Kelly, if you want it, come get it. Drop your verse, do whatever you want to do. If you want to take it there, we can take it there. And that goes for anybody else too."

I'm really excited to see what Yelawolf has to say after this latest incident.

personally, I met Yelawolf at a Wiz Khalifa concert before the "Let's Party" track with Gucci mane came out. he's a really down to earth dude I just think MGK is trying to start some waves. This could be the and of MGK career.

Yelawolf loves Shady Records, but is sketched out by Interscope Records




Interscope Records is no stranger to being criticized for its way of handling its musicians. Yelawolf is that newest artist added to that list. In a recent interview on shade 45's show "All Out" Catfish Billy didn't pull any punches about how Interscope runs it's ship.



he's unhappy Interscope (The House Jimmy Lovine built) released one single in the past 11 months, Yelawolf says "He's not one to hold his tongue and radioactive was delivered on a silver platter" a very radio friendly album bludgeoning get that many radio spends personally I really hope yellow with goes back to his roots and returns to the trunk music movement





On a side note artists are usually upset with their employer because they don't have free rome to do whatever they would like with their music. A artist should stay true to their selves If they want to have longevity in their music career.

MGK talks about his "Invincible" track

MGK explains the story behind the making of his song "Invincible" which he was against doing in the first place.

Machine gun Kelly spoke about the song he did with Ester Dean (Invincible) during an interview with WILD 94.1

He revealed during the interview that he originally hated the song since it was brought to him by "Corporate America" an he deemed it a "cookie-cutter track" comparing it to "Airplanes" by B.O.B

He says. At first it seemed like a contest between Interscope rappers Yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar an himself which MGK says he was against.

"I don't operate like that" referring to the making of "Invinfible" you weren't there making the song with each other in the studio. It was presented to you. I wrote all my hooks.... So when I got the hook. I was offended you guys think I'm a cookie-cutter artist. I don't work like that and I never talked to Ester Dean in my life. I've never talked to the producer whose Alex Da Kid who makes those cookie-cutter records"

Eventually, he was asked to record a second verse after he assumed it was over with, Kelly said "he didn't want anything to do with the song and would not make a video for it" months later though he was asked by the producer Alex Da Kid to re-record his verse because the producer hated the first one, although I'm MGK was angry at first, he stormed out of the studio when he realized he was getting people fired over it. He thought about the individuals an had a change of heart.

"You have to do this you have to have to have to like people are getting fired, and people really were getting fired over it and MGK explained as they are. "Like you can't make this petty new artist on our label do a song? This was the boss asking for it."


Kelly said of re-doing the second verse. "I took all my anger on the second verse. If you listen to the second verse, that's one of the best verses I heard of my life"



(personally, I just think this kid is immature. When you sign to a label you're signing a agreement. If they want you to do a radio friendly song you already agreed to it in your contract prior to being signed. Don't be mad when you don't read the fine print if you can't handle it go Indie in the music industry. Every artist is expendable)



on a side note MGK could never match up to Kendrick Lamar
